The Kids Food Festival is an annually held culinary event based upon the philosophy of learning through immersion in enjoyable activities to promote sensible food choices and avert childhood obesity; through exposure to nutritious and balanced eating habits children can make better food choices and develop skills aimed towards establishing a healthful nutritious lifestyle while simultaneously enjoying themselves alongside family and friends. The Kids Food Festival took place on February 28 and March 1 2015 at Bryant Park in New York City; general admission to the event was free. Enthusiastic epicures and budding foodies engaged in a wide variety of offerings, ranging from the celebrated Balanced Plate Scavenger Hunt to hands-on cooking classes at the James Beard Foundation Future Foodies Pavilion featuring a variety of food choices taught by professional chefs. Families enjoyed live music, a dance party, and many flavorful activities designed to inspire a future generation of healthful eaters as well as support a charity dedicated to the reduction of childhood obesity– The Alliance for a Healthier Generation.
