MonBaby Tracks Baby’s Breathing Movement & Sleep Position

July 9, 2015 by Staff Writer

MonBaby® wearable baby monitor offers a solution for parents concerned about their baby’s well-being. Being a parent isn’t always easy, it’s filled with moments of joy & happiness as well as worry & anxiety.   MonBaby® wearable baby monitoring technology tracks breathing, movement and sleep patterns and sends alerts to parents’ smartphones via the MonBaby App.  MonBaby’s uniqueness lies in its universal form factor & attachment mechanism. The device consists of two parts, a button and a shell. The shell goes underneath the baby’s clothing and the button goes on top. The two parts are snapped together, with the clothing in between (as shown in the video). This unique design has solved a key problem with baby wearables: a baby’s constant growth. Parents can attach MonBaby® anywhere, to various articles of clothing.

MonBaby® alerts parents if their baby turns over & is sleeping on their stomach, enabling parents to go and turn the baby face up again (note: stomach sleeping is associated with SIDS).  And while MonBaby® makes no claims as a medical device, it’s easy to understand the current popularity of high-tech baby monitoring devices– they can provide an extra layer of comfort, but they are not intended to replace standard precautions or proper parental supervision. As of the writing of this article, MonBaby® is currently priced below $200 USD.

Created by MonDevices, Inc., the first production run of the device was funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign in November, 2014. At CE Week 2015 in New York City, MonDevices presented MonBaby® to journalists, investors and tech enthusiasts. The product was showcased in CE Week’s exclusive Innovation Zone at Booth IZ826. We did not receive any compensation whatsoever for writing this article; we are, however, very interested in the device as it is the first of its kind available to consumers, so it was very exciting to be able to see it in person.

“The first round of MonBaby® units completely sold out, proving that customers, distributors and retailers think MonBaby® fills an unserved niche,” said Lev Grzhonko, CEO of MonDevices, Inc. “By presenting in the Innovation Zone during CE Week, we have an exciting new opportunity to also prove that need to investors and distribution executives who can help us scale the company effectively.”

“We’ve been recognized with several awards, including a Wearable Technology prize at the 2014 Innovation World Cup,” said MonDevices CTO and device inventor Arturas Vaitaitis. “This tells us we’ve developed a worthwhile concept parents need and want, and we look forward to fulfilling that need on a national and international level in the months ahead.
