April 15, 2015 by Staff Writer

April 15, 2015 –  New York, NY

The American Friends of Cité des Civilisations du Vin (AFCCV) announced it will be hosting a fundraising extravaganza “The Wines Of-The-World” at the United Nation’s Delegates Dining Room in New York City on Thursday April 30, 2015. The event will be hosted by François Delattre, Permanent representative of France to the United Nations; George Sape, President of AFCCV, Robert Wilmers, Chairman of the Board of AFCCV; and Sylvie Cazes, President of the Cité  des Civilisations du Vin. Located in France’s world famous Bordeaux wine region, the Cité des Civilisations du Vin represents an international cultural landmark housing an innovative new world center for wine.  More than a museum, Bordeaux’s Cité des Civilisations du Vin will serve as a premier destination center to share and cultivate wine’s ancient history and complex heritage with a diverse international public. The American Friends of the Cité des Civilisations du Vin strives to name the Cité ‘s Auditorium after President Thomas Jefferson who served as Ambassador to France and was a Bordeaux wine enthusiast often credited with introducing the varietals to America. The upcoming soirée, under the patronage of the Former Prime Minister of France and Mayor of Bordeaux, Alain Juppé,  and His Excellency François Delattre will see United Nations ambassadors from member countries in attendance as well as the Secretary General and notable board members of AFCCV. Following an Ambassador’s VIP reception, the main event festivities will commence as His Excellency Delattre and Mayor Alain Juppé co-host the “Wines and Civilizations Tasting Extravaganza.” The extraordinary tasting reception will feature wines from over 40 countries, including France, Spain, Argentina, the United States, Germany, Italy and South Africa as well as Lebanon, Israel, Kenya, Ethiopia, Thailand, China and many more. The Tasting Extravaganza will be organized in a non-formal but sophisticated setting, allowing patrons to enjoy the international varietals throughout the evening. A unique selection of diverse and delicious international foods, prepared exclusively by some of the world’s best chefs, will accompany the wines. An after-party with DJ is also planned for Young Professionals from 9 to 11 pm.  A limited number of tickets are available for the Main Tasting event.
